In the early1980’s a group of umpires got together and formed the GMBUA (Greater Manchester Baseball Umpires Association). Their purpose was to form an association of umpires to work the local Babe Ruth, Pony, and other leagues that were located in the city of Manchester.
   
    After a brief interruption (1993 and 1998) the GMBUA renewed its charter and began servicing the local leagues in the Manchester area. The group expanded its customer base to include Goffstown, Bedford, Londonderry and Youngsville. The small group of 21 umpires, in time, began to grow and by 2006, there were 45 umpires listed on the roster and the customer base not only included the prior leagues mentioned, it also began to grow beyond the Manchester area. This expansion saw several other independent leagues located outside the Manchester borders seeking our services and, at the same time, several AAU customers began knocking at our door.
   
    To begin our fiscal year 2007, the association name was changed to the current MANCHESTER REGIONAL BASEBALL UMPIRES ASSOCIATION (MRBUA). It was felt the new name more accurately represented the service footprint which had expanded beyond the immediate Manchester area. The umpire roster continued to grow to a 2008 level of 56 active umpires and the total game volume for the MRBUA exceeds 1300 games in the spring, summer and fall seasons of 2008.

    Many of the umpires are members of the NHBUA (New Hampshire Baseball Umpires Association). The association also supports Babe Ruth League baseball and encourages its members to join the National Umpires Association. Our current membership also includes umpires in the College Baseball Umpires Association (CBUA), while several are experienced in all rounds of the NHIAA high school state tournament and many have worked in regional, state and district tournaments at all age levels of youth baseball through age 18.

    The MRBUA values its relationship with all of its customers and its commitment to them. The MRBUA will continue to regard umpiring as a continuing education process so our customers can benefit from the professional service which the MRBUA is committed to provide.
